Club Development Plan

Brandon and Lisa signed up for the England Squash club development plan and attended several webinars between January and March 2021 with other clubs across the country.

Among the topics were a case study from Leamington Spa, who executed some grand plans to expand their club. They also learned about volunteering, websites, funding, social media, inclusivity, SWOT analysis, governance, the current climate, casual dippers and loads more.

At the end of the course they were encouraged to come up with a development plan, which can be view by clicking the link below.

Brandon and Lisa started with six strategic pillars and developed three or four points under each pillar to make a start on the plan.  They’ve gone through several versions!

Some of the objectives are quick and easy with instant results, others are more involved and will require specialist knowledge and funding.

The idea is that each objective has a small team of volunteers working on it, reporting back to the committee on a regular basis.  None of the objectives are set in stone, we are open to feedback.

Here are the key areas of focus identified in an invitational member meeting on Monday 26th April 2021 –

  • Key short-term goal is to re-engage with members to shore up existing base, and attract new members including juniors, to drive revenue for the club.
  • Existing membership model needs to be adapted to attract more of the ‘social regular’ and ‘casual dipper’ (see table below) potential.
  • Squash and racketball should remain the focus of the club; other activities such as social, gym and fitness classes should support the core sports, and promote overall health and wellbeing.
  • Current internal club communication to members is strong, but we need to become more visible within the wider Reigate community.
  • The club community can be enhanced through communicating, revitalising and initiating new opportunities for people to play squash/racketball and to socialise at the club.
  • The physical club environment needs to be upgraded/modernised.

The club is now actively looking for volunteers to help put the plan into action.  We appreciate that time is precious for everyone and any help, however small, is very welcome.  If you feel you could help, please contact us
