Welcome to Reigate Squash & Racketball Club, our friendly and thriving members' club situated a stone’s throw from the beautiful Surrey Hills
We welcome players of all abilities and we are very lucky to have two, level 3 England Squash coaches, Danny and Samuel, who offer excellent squash and racketball coaching opportunities for beginners, ladies, juniors, returning players and everyone in between.
We like to think we’re one of the most successful clubs in Surrey, with four men’s teams, five vets’ teams, three vintage teams and a racketball team, who all play in the Surrey County League. We’re working on a ladies’ team.
As well as our four excellently maintained courts we have a small gym with bikes, x-trainer, rowing machine, stretching mats and free weights.
Our club boasts a strong junior section with popular group coaching at weekends, a weekday academy and squash camps during school holidays.
At Reigate, our members have the chance to play in a variety of competitions, such as our popular annual club tournament, fun doubles, the Double Diamond, one day graded tournaments and internal team leagues.
Racketball is growing increasingly popular at the club and it can be seen by some as being for those preferring a ‘gentler’ game or returning from injury or with longer rallies, it can be just as competitive as squash!
We have active internal league for squash and a mixed racketball league, our new internal team league plus a number of weekly club events, such as club night, club morning and racketball club night.
In additional to squash and racketball, we host a range of social activities for our members and their friends & families. These include an annual golf day, a monthly social get together, trips to local breweries, quiz & chip night and our dinner dance.

A Little Bit of History
In the 1930s, there were few squash clubs outside London and the public schools. Lord Nugent, who had been an MP in the Home Counties, was enthusiastic to see squash clubs set up in the Provinces. By 1935, he had supported the establishment of clubs in Tunbridge Wells and Guildford. He sowed the seeds amongst potential squash players.
Kenneth Brewer was a keen member of Reigate Tennis Club in Manor Road. The club needed £500 to build a new hard court and agreed with Kenneth to sell the land now occupied by the Squash Club. With the help of four local benefactors who provided £125 each and a bank loan of £1100, two squash courts and changing rooms were completed in 1936.
A few years later, the club was requisitioned by the Canadian Army for storage. After the war, the club was soon restarted. The freehold was conveyed to the Trustees in 1952 but it took until the early 1960s to pay off the bank loan.
In the 1970s and 1980s, two further courts were added. During this period, the club had a number of County and International players and developed some juniors who became stars of the future including Danny Lee, now professional at St. George’s and Alison Malynn (nee Cumings) who rose through the ranks to number 4 in the world.
In 1993, the roof over the oldest part of the club was replaced and the bar area refurbished thanks to a grant from the Foundation for Sports and the Arts and a generous loan from David Hodges, a long-standing member and Treasurer.
